Building a better boat... to prevent invasive species spread
The best way to slow the spread of invasive species, is to make it hard for them to hitch-along. By changing the design of the typical pontoon boat, a Minnesota manufacturer has reduced the number of places that aquatic species can hide during cleaning and between bodies of water. Previously, they kept the design a secret to have an edge over their competitors, but they are now sharing the improvements with the rest of the industry to encourage others to help stem the spread of aquatic invaders.
