Members of Audubon of Martin County, Florida which owns and oversees the 4.5-acre Possom Long Nature Center in Stuart, have been working on a $250,000 project to remove invasive plant species and replace them with native species that provide food for numerous types of birds and other wildlife. Audubon members' desire for the area to be a better bird habitat led to the restoration project, which began by removing harmful invasive plants including Brazilian peppertree, seaside mahoe and the air potato vine.
